The program has been spearheaded by Anne Shulock, assistant vice president for the arts, and is still open to proposals. VPA generally awards grants tied to on-campus activities and in-person arts experiences, but when the university became a virtual environment, it was clear that there needed to be a different approach to grantmaking. A central tenet of the grant is that the art created should be publicly accessible, which for the most part means the projects take place online and can be accessed by anyone with an internet connection. The grants continue to be open to students, faculty and staff and will be awarded on a rolling deadline until May

Security researchers have found a new malware strain that hijacks vulnerable Windows devices to mine cryptocurrency and stage devastating DDoS attacks , leading the researchers to prompt PC users and server administrators to ensure that they are being protected by the best antivirus software. The malware, called "Lucifer" by its discoverers at cybersecurity firm Palo Alto Networks' Unit 42 , "brute forces" its way into Windows machines by trying out common usernames and passwords on widely used system ports. The malware primarily targets enterprise servers, especially since those servers can provide entry into corporate networks, but can also infect personal computers. Unit 42 came across the malware after investigating the CVE exploit, a vulnerability in the open-source web-application-development Laravel Framework that enables perpetrators to conduct remote-code-execution attacks. Lucifer's own creators call the malware "Satan DDoS," but Unit 42 thought that might cause confusion as there's already "Satan" ransomware. The attacker then resumed their campaign on June 11, , spreading an upgraded version of the malware and wreaking havoc.
How to avoid the Lucifer malware
Dell Technologies' new PowerScale storage line opens the door for channel partners to attack the edge unlike ever before through new native public cloud integration, unstructured data software, and a 1U platform that can scale from 11 TB of raw capacity to 60 PB and millions of file operations. Now we can go to the edge: regional banks, remote sites, retail stores, hospitals with PowerScale, which will be the highest-performing solution out there. This now opens a new market segment for us. PowerScale can directly connect to major public clouds including Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure as a managed service, ideal for customers looking to move or deploy demanding applications in the cloud. Nodes can be added to a PowerScale cluster in 60 seconds, while the storage system delivers up to PowerScale is powered by an enhanced Dell EMC OneFS operating system and new DataIQ software that breaks down data silos by delivering a single view of file and object data across Dell, third-party and public cloud storage environments. Then you can actually do something with that like set up the policies to be able to logically group this data no matter where it resides. RoundTower is planning a professional services offering based on DataIQ around data fragmentation assessment as well managed services for PowerScale.
